William G. Teodecki of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on September 21, 2025. He was 93 years old.
Born on December 11, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Frank Teodecki and Agnes Teodecki (née Wolski). Mr. Teodecki studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), where he honed the skills that would define his lifelong artistic journey. His path took him from New York City to Connecticut, then to Oxford, Pennsylvania, before he finally made his home in Philadelphia as a longtime resident of the Greene Street Artists Cooperative.
A dedicated and prolific artist, he remained active in his craft well into his later years. Even in his 90s, he continued painting and creating collages every day, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his art. His work explored American Realism, which he often described as existing “midway between illustration and painting.” Over the course of his career, he worked in oil, watercolor, and collage, producing portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and studies of cars, among many other subjects. His paintings were exhibited in galleries and collections, earning recognition among peers and collectors alike. His works have been exhibited in numerous regional exhibitions and are held in private collections.
Mr. Teodecki is survived by his son, William B. Teodecki; daughters, Amy M. Teodecki, Jennifer C. Ponce, and Yvonne Hamer; his brother, Michael Teodecki; his sister, Kathleen Holmes; eight grandchildren; and many extended family members. He shared meaningful chapters of his life with Susan M. Burson and with Gloria Narva, raising families with both. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Frank Teodecki.
Though his physical presence is no longer with us, William G. Teodecki leaves behind a rich legacy of creativity — a lasting testament to the belief that art, for a true practitioner, is a lifelong companion.
Services and interment will take place at a later date.
