Walter Kowal, age 60, passed suddenly on Sunday, February 5, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of the late Walter J. Kowal Sr. and Joan A. Kowal (Saunders). He is survived by brother's Anthony (Mary), Kevin (Colleen) and his sister Monica (Drew), nieces, nephews, cousins and too many friends to mention. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia, his niece Susan and nephew Boyd. Walter was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. A graduate of Salesianum High School and Wilmington University, he had a successful recruiting career.
Walter served as Executive Board Member for Hope on Girard where he tirelessly and lovingly offered his time and talents to the recovery community. In addition to his daily duties, Walter took the lead on Hope’s Kensington Outreach projects and was instrumental in The Philadelphia Freedom Roundup.
Walter’s positive work in the Philadelphia recovery, and the LGBT communities will forever be remembered.

Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE on February 23rd at 11:00 am
A Celebration of Walt’s life will follow at Deerfield Country Club, 507 Thompson Station Road, Newark, DE 19711.
