Virginia Nelson

It is with our sincerest and heart felt regrets that we share the passing of Virginia Dare Hamilton Nelson, daughter of Charles Hamilton and Elizabeth Jones originally of Davidson County North Carolina and most recently of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Virginia passed after battling illnesses brought on by the caring for her mother who she doted on even after she lost mobility. Her care helped her mother to live until 102 years old. On the evening of August 20, 2025 with more than two dozen of her closest family, including her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and adopted grandchildren. Virginia took her final breath and passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Virginia lived a life of sacrifice for her country as the wife of a Navy officer, Carl O. Nelson for over 20 years dedicating her life to her five daughters, their spouses and children as well as a slew of neighbors and adopted children and grandchildren. It is through her life of sacrifice that so many now breathe and remember her as their beloved, their champion and safe harbor from the world.

Virginia is survived by her five daughters, Charlene Johnson, Carlotta Nelson, Carla Wiley, Cardella Clayton, Alice Nelson-Sidibe, son in law, Djiguiba Sidibe, and nephew Gregory Little as well as 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 14 great, great grandchildren, and 4 great, great, great grandchildren.

Virginia will be missed by one and all who know and love her. The memorial service and internment will be private.
