Stevens Harding Lindhult, age 98, of Warminster, PA, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026 at Ann's Choice Retirement Community. Harding always had a warm greeting and a smile for whomever he met. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jules E. Gatter Lindhult (2012). He was born in Philadelphia in August 1927, to Carl and Alice Stevens Lindhult and graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1944 at 16. As a teenager he apprenticed for a Philadelphia photographer where his most memorable experience was making hundreds of prints of Judy Garland’s first promotional photo taken by his boss. He got so tired of making the prints that he neglected to save one for himself.
At 18 he joined the Army and was assigned as a photographer with the Signal Corps. After his discharge, Harding attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1951 with a BA in Journalism. He was hired by an industrial advertising agency, eventually co-founding his own agency, Lindhult & Jones, Inc in 1960 which he successfully ran with a loyal client base until his retirement in 1990.
Harding loved traveling and had adventures on six continents with his camera. He was an
active member in St Anne’s Episcopal Church where a minister commented on his Walter Cronkite-like delivery for gospel readings. He served on multiple committees for AARP at the state and national level, Questers and at Ann's Choice Retirement Community in Warminster, where he and Jules moved in 2003. As the second person to move into Ann’s Choice, he lived there longer than any other resident at the time of his death. His most recognized activity was with the Craven Hall Historical Society where he co-founded the John Fitch Steamboat Museum. He did extensive research into the life of the steamboat’s original inventor and created the content for the museum displays.
His steady presence will be missed by his sons, Mark (Polly) of Belchertown, MA and Eric (Mari) of Fort Washington, PA, five grandchildren Lydia (Jeff), Steven, Kevin, Grant (TJ) and Kurt (Lindsay), two step-grandchildren, Ross (Phoenix) and Reed Radford and two great granddaughters, Eleanor Jules Lindhult Darrow and Elise Marie Lindhult Darrow.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the John Fitch Steamboat Museum, Street and Newtown Roads, Warminster, PA 18974 or the Benevolent Care Fund at Ann’s Choice.
