Stephen Michael Silvestri, 61, of Nottingham, PA, passed away peacefully at his home in the early hours of Monday, April 14, 2025, surrounded by family.
Steve was born on September 13, 1963 in Chester County, PA, to the late Vincent J. and Ann S. Silvestri.
He graduated from York Catholic High School, Class of 1981, and was married to his wife of 36 years, Alexa (Fischler) Silvestri. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. While his time in the military was short, the stories and memories he had shared will last a lifetime.
Steve was a very passionate man. Extremely proud of his family, his sons and granddaughters, and was the first to let everyone around him know that. This internal pride translated into many facets of his life, his work, his education, and his purpose. After obtaining a degree from Cecil College (and a certificate from Penn State) later in life, Steve went on to find his true purpose, helping others. After battling many demons of his own, Steve became a Certified Recovery specialist for Mainline Heath, working mostly at Riddle and Paoli hospitals. While there, he was able to connect with patients and help turn around the lives of countless individuals struggling with addiction. Before that, he was a clinical supervisor at Bowling Green and Mirmont treatment centers. Whether it was at work or in his local community, Steve had many friends and relationships that he cherished.
Steve was always on the go, whether it was an early morning yard sale, working in the yard, or refilling his countless bird feeders, he just loved being in the sunshine. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and going on bike trips. He spent many years traveling to his children’s sporting events and coaching various sports. In later years, he enjoyed many family vacations, going to professional sports games with his children, golfing, and traveling with his wife.
“Papa’s” greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his granddaughters; on ice cream dates, train rides, or just riding around together doing errands. He always knew how to find joy and excitement, even out of the most mundane tasks.
Steve will always be remembered for his fun-loving and positive attitude towards life! He will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Alexa, he is survived by his three sons, Stephen James Silvestri of York, Pa.; Ian Michael Silvestri and wife Ryen Silvestri of Morrisdale, Pa.; and Eric Daniel Silvestri and fiancè Stacie Riley of Oxford, Pa., five beautiful granddaughters; Emma, Ellie, Carson, Madison, and Stella. He is also survived by his brothers, Vincent Silvestri of York, Pa.; Michael Silvestri of Spring City, Pa., John Silvestri of Stansbury Park, Ut., Joseph Silvestri of Parkesburg, Pa., and a sister Mary (Silvestri) Catzoli of Spring City, Pa. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent Joseph Silvestri and Ann Shirley (Fox) Silvestri.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
