Sandra Robin Wadlinger (née Slawsky)
April 29, 1957 - July 3, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Sandi Wadlinger announces her passing on July 3, 2023 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after losing a battle with pneumonia. She passed away peacefully with her loving husband, Clifford, and daughter, Sarah, by her side.
Sandi was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Northeast High School and received an RRT in Respiratory Therapy from Philadelphia Community College. She began her career in healthcare at Lankenau Hospital before moving to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where she worked for over 40 years. Sandi started as a RT at CHOP in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and was instrumental in the care of countless premature babies. After working her way up at CHOP, she went back to school first to receive her BA in Management from Eastern University and later a Master’s of Clinical Research from Drexel University. At the time of her death, she served as the Administrative Director for CHOP’s Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics where she worked with a devoted team that supported cutting edge scientific research.
Sandi was an amazing energetic, smart, successful, dynamic woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She cared for everyone she knew wholeheartedly and would go out of her way to help a friend or colleague in any way she could. Despite fighting a lengthy battle with lung cancer for over nine years, Sandi never wavered in her care for the people she loved.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 13th at 11am at Springfield Country Club (400 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA, 19064). All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (https://www.
Sandi was predeceased by her parents, George and Shirley Slawsky (née Miller), and sister Donna Lacivita (née Slawsky). She is survived by her husband Clifford Wadlinger, her daughter Sarah Wadlinger, her sister Judi Slawsky, and her loyal canine companion Cody.
