GAVIN ROBERT E. JR. "BOBBY" 72, passed away peacefully in his home in Jenkintown, PA, on August 27, 2022. Bobby was born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 2, 1949, to Marion (Michener) and Robert J. Gavin, Sr. He attended Bishop McDevitt High School and graduated from LaSalle University with a degree in business, before joining the then-fledgeling Federal Express in 1973. Following 8 years of rapid growth at Federal Express, where he rose to the rank of Vice President of the Southern Division, Bobby left to pursue his entrepreneurial dream. For 30 years, he was the proud owner of a tavern and sports bar, opening as Bobby Gavin's, then, after moving to a larger facility built across the street on "Mount Gavin", Gavin's Clowning Around. It was often referred to as the "Cheers" of Horsham. In his free time, Bobby was an avid golfer, a passionate Philly sports fan, an enthusiastic pundit on world events and politics (both in person and, after he retired, in a series of commentary videos) and a devoted father. His life was full of accomplishments and adventures, from dancing at Studio 54 and driving the wrong way up Broadway in New York while behind the wheel of a Federal Express delivery truck, to attending the Super Bowl and the World Series and hitting a hole-in-one on the 14th hole at Old York Road Country Club. He is survived by his daughter, Donnell Gavin (Bryan), and his son, Robert E. Gavin, III (Michelle), his grandchildren, Ella and Bobby Gavin, brothers Michael (Frannie), Jack (Louise), and Kevin (Michele), many nieces and nephews and countless members of his Gavin's "family". A Celebration of Life will be planned nearer to his birthday. Memorial donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
