Priscilla Kingsley Sharpless

Priscilla Kingsley Sharpless passed away at the age of 88 on April 1, 2023 at White Horse Village in Edgemont, PA, after a long struggle with dementia.

Priscilla was born March 22, 1935 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Charles Kingsley, Jr. and Rebecca Sears Kingsley.  She spent her youth in Lexington, Massachusetts where she attended the Lexington public schools through grade 10, and then the Winsor School in Boston.    She attended Swarthmore College, graduating in 1956. While at Swarthmore she met her husband, Eric on a blind date arranged by mutual friends. She and Eric were married June 16, 1956 in Lexington, and then lived first in Swarthmore, then in Wayne and Phoenixville, before she and Eric moved to White Horse Village.   She was a member of the Wayne United Methodist Church.  She was active in the Junior Saturday Club of Wayne, serving in several positions, including a time as its President.  She loved travel, visiting many countries on six continents and as many of the world’s beaches as she could.  She spent her working career as a travel agent, with special knowledge of Australia and the Caribbean.

She loved the sun and beaches, with a particular love for Anguilla, to which she and Eric returned over many years.

Her husband, Eric predeceased her.  She is survived by her sister, Prudence Larson of Longmont, CO; 3 children, Frederick (Nancy) of Climax, NC, Carolyn Sampson (Bernard) of Ninety-Six, SC, and Gordon (Ketsara) of Albany, CA; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Hastings (Victor) of Portland, OR, Holly Grossman (Max) of New York City, Laura Davis (Kaleb) of Ninety-Six, SC, Rebecca Sampson-Talton (Landon) of Raleigh, NC, Bernard (Ben) Sampson IV of Maui, HI, Matthew Sharpless of Albany, CA, and Ryan Sharpless of Albany, CA; and one great-grandchild, Andrew Davis of Ninety-Six, SC.

A joint memorial for her and Eric is tentatively planned for June 4, 2023 at White Horse Village.
