Portia Bahl

Portia Bahl, 94, of Springfield, PA passed away on May 1, 2024 with her family by her side in Exton, PA.

Born on March 27, 1930 to the late Pietro and Maria “Mary” Mugnolo in Brooklyn, NY, Portia graduated from high school in 1948.  She worked at Macy’s on 34th Street in NYC prior to meeting her husband George on a cruise and moving to Springfield.  She never lost her distinctive New York accent.

She married George Raymond Bahl in 1963, and they lived together in Springfield for over 50 years. Portia is survived by two children: George D. Bahl and Adrianne Lamprinos (Michael) of West Chester.  She is also survived by three grandchildren Matthew Lamprinos (Lindsey), Adam Lamprinos, and Grace Lamprinos.  Portia was predeceased by her loving husband George in 2016 and a daughter Kimberly in 1968.

Portia was an active resident of Springfield, PA.  She worked for the Springfield School District as a cafeteria manager during the late 1970’s and 80’s.  She was a manager at the Lane Bryant department store as well as lead cashier for Dry Goods.  Portia was a lifelong member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church and attended several area senior clubs.  She enjoyed sewing, baking, yard sales, casino trips, crafting and playing bingo in her free time.  

A memorial service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Springfield on Monday May, 20, 2024.  Visitors will be received from 11:30-12:30 with a service following.  The burial will take place privately with the family.
