Mary Lou McGinley, 90, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. She was the wife of the late Dr. Edward M. McGinley.
Born on March 4, 1936, in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, Mary Lou was the beloved daughter of Edward and Beatrice (Kessler) Clewell. She graduated from Emmaus High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Moravian College. She studied social work and was a passionate advocate for survivors of child abuse.
Mary Lou was a dedicated caregiver whose greatest joy was her family. She especially cherished family traditions and loved being “Nana” to her grandchildren. Her favorite activities were playing tennis and going to the beach.
She is survived by her son, Sean McGinley (Tracy); her daughter, Erin McGinley (Nang Tran); her grandchildren, Ryan McGinley, Sydney McGinley, Fiona Tran, and Cady Tran; and her sister, Joann Adams (Curt).
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Kay Gill, who battled with Parkinson’s disease, and by Kay's husband, Cliff Gill.
A private celebration of Mary Lou's life will be held by her family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org/
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
