Marionne Adshead

Marionne McCadden Adshead, age 103, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. Born on June 17, 1923, in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. McCadden and Anna Liddell.

Marionne lived her early life in an area of Pennsylvania where the horses and buggies were the main means of transportation. Many homes burned candles and oil lamps to light the night. Few people owned dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioners, or telephones and there were no calculators, cell phones, computers, or televisions. She led a full life and lived to an age that only one-half of one-percent (.5%) of Americans ever reach. She was an extraordinary woman who saw extraordinary changes take place in the world from her birth to her death.

After graduating from Ridley Park High School in 1941, Marionne worked for a time as a bank teller in Philadelphia. While she was employed at the bank, she met her future husband, William, who had returned home as a Lieutenant in the US Navy following combat duty aboard the carrier-escort Destroyer, USS Frazier, in the South Pacific during World War II. After her sons, William, Jr. and Robert were born, she built a home in Meadowbrook, PA, became a devoted homemaker, and raised her family. When her husband passed away in 1988, Marionne moved to Holland, Pennsylvania and raised 5 cats. Later, she moved to the Gloria Dei facility in Lower Moreland Township to be closer to her family and made friends with, and was adored by, staff and residents alike.

Wherever she lived, Marionne gave everything she had to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors, friends and strangers. She constantly put other people’s needs before her own and gave more than she had to anyone who asked. She joked that she would adopt a person if that person was kind to her. She literally lived to give and all she ever wanted was for others to be happy. She never asked for anything in return except for a kiss or a hug.

Marionne will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart, the lasting impact she made on everyone she met, and her love of shopping on QVC and Home Shopping Network! She was cautioned after she turned 100 years old that she was spending too much money on gifts for others and that she might run out of funds, to which she famously replied, “Oh I’m not spending too much…..I’m putting everything on my credit card!” Her legacy continues in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those who met her and loved her.

Marionne is survived by two children: William M. Adshead, Jr. (wife, Jill) and Robert L. Adshead, Esquire (wife, Jeanne); six grandchildren: Laura J. Bradbury (husband, Richard), Elizabeth L. Skorton, (husband, Christopher), Michelle A. Waterman (husband, Forrest), Erika Weitzenhoffer (husband, Paul), Rachel Adshead, and William M. Adshead, III, and by five beautiful great-grandchildren.

A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held in the future and family and friends will be notified.
