Marianne Teresa Patnovic
June 26, 1924-April 22, 2025
Marianne Teresa Patnovic (nee Friedel), age 100, of West Chester, PA, died peacefully at home on April 22, 2025. Born at home in Ehrenfriedersdorf, Germany, Selma Marianne Teresa Friedel came to this country as a little girl, speaking no English. An immigrant, like many of our ancestors, she passed through Ellis Island for a new life in America. Her parents, Anna and Guido Friedel, settled near family in Northeast Philadelphia and she grew up on Colgate Street. They intended to return to Germany, but their country began changing and they stayed. She did not become a citizen until she married the love of her life, Joseph Patnovic in 1944. They first lived in Horsham, PA, welcoming 4 children before moving to Churchville, PA for the next 62 years. Together they fulfilled their greatest wish in 1976 to build a cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack. She worked tirelessly for her family and her dreams. She worked full time at a point in history when her peers stayed home. She loved to sunbathe, to knit and to garden. She loved lipstick and high heels. She was stubborn as hell, loved being the center of attention and she never forgot a birthday. She loved everything about Christmas. She loved baking, dogs and boat rides on the lake. Marianne is a mother to three daughters, Ruth Atkins (Dr. William), Robbyn O'Neill (Joseph), Rosanne Alexander (John) and her beloved son, the late Ronald Patnovic; also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A child of God, may she now be in the loving embraces of Joe, her husband, Ron, her son and Brian, her grandson. Services and interment are private.
