Lynne Elizabeth Fiocchi of Millville NJ and Millville PA, 85, passed from this earth Wednesday
May 15, 2024. She left peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Daughter of Thomas
and Lenore Hinckley, Lynne was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on January 24, 1939. Lynne was
a dedicated mother, artist, and equestrian. She was curious about the world and traveled
extensively with Augie, her husband of 34 years, with her children in tow. Every summer for
over a decade, as school let out, they packed those kids in a tin box with wheels and hit the
open road. Countless adventures followed, and over that time, they visited 48 of the 50 states.
For Lynne, art was as natural as breathing. From a young age she delighted in drawing and
after high school decided to be formally trained. She attended Philadelphia School of Art,
making lifelong friends, and honing her artistic skills. Her art journey included all mediums:
fabric design, print making, pottery, acrylic painting, and her specialty, large format
watercolors. Lynne drew her entire life. So many sketchbooks, filled with detailed portraits and
casual drawings of family members in the throes of daily life. In the seventies, she found art as
a profession. She became a successful graphic designer, working both locally and for clients
across the country. This supplied her with the income to have cool cars and achieve her lifelong
dream of owning horses.
Her horses were the focus of her later life. As she moved to the mountains of central
Pennsylvania to be close to her youngest child, she designed and had built, the perfect little
house and horse farm. She had chosen Arabians, which perhaps was not the best idea for an
aspiring rider, but she had loved the breed since she was a child and there was to be no talking
her out of that!
There was so much to learn. She embarked on a journey of natural horsemanship, techniques
that emphasized connection between rider and horse. It was very challenging, and she rose to
that challenge. Sabu, Sophie, Banner, (and Zee) all benefitted from this time, commitment, and
love. These horses were the source of new friends and she loved to share them with all her
family. In her later years, Banner was a strong source of comfort in her life, even after she could
no longer ride.
Lynne was curious about the world and researched her favorite topics with excited fervor. She
shared her findings with her friends and family, discussing science topics, theater, art, music,

wildflowers, birds and of course, horses.
As a grandmother, she shared her life with her grandchildren. She was interested in each of
them and followed their lives with love and interest through family reports. During visits she
made connections with every one of them, looking at sketchbooks, taking horsey rides, eating
ice cream, making ornaments, playing Monopoly.
A woman of great passion, Lynne’s path through this world abounded with adventure, art, and
lifelong learning. She was at home on the back of a horse, behind the wheel of a Miata, hiking
high in the Rockies, and putting kids to bed with a kiss, the door a little open, the hall light dimly
lit and her piano music drifting up the stairs...
She was:
Standing, breathless, high on Loveland Pass, the clouds so close you could almost touch
them.
Driving to art school in a duck egg blue 54 Corvette Augie project, with a paint brush as a
shifter.
Bouncing a Cessna to a perfect (?) 3-point landing as her family looked on, laughing and
cheering.
Showing love in those elaborate hippie sandwiches, whole wheat bread, piled high with
vegetables and sprouts, which became a soggy mess when opened for a middle school lunch.
Sitting and reading Prince Valiant with her son on a Sunday afternoon.
Raving about Hamilton, Poldark, and Jaime Fraser.
Pointing out every Tesla she saw.
She was:
Shrieking at Cubbie, the dog, again covered in stinking mud.
Making tacos in the back of the blue goose.
Having a yearly breakdown while attending to Christmas tree lights.
Watching the birds at the feeder and a grandson playing in the kiddie pool.
Creating a house which descended into splendid chaos every Thanksgiving for 20 years.
Attending football, baseball and basketball games to support and cheer her grandson.
Crying “AUGIE!” as he infuriated her yet again.
Travelling Route 30 with her parents and siblings to visit her Grandparents in Chicago Heights.
She was:
Waving a finger at Banner to make him back up.
Walking with her good friends for miles around the Arbor Avenue and Blue Jay block.
Loving all those animals, adopting stray cats, some of which became very round.
Cleaning the house and instructing on cleaning the house, so particular
Running for seeming miles behind a wobbly two-wheeler, as her son struggled to stay upright.
She was:
Packing Sophie the horse up to drive her to her granddaughter’s 5th birthday party.
Sketching Augie,” steering the mighty steer” heading west.
Embracing Shenandoah National Park like a second home.
Taking pictures in Rome with her giant camera of stuff we never look at now.

Holding and watching her great granddaughter close.
Painting a horse mural on the wall
Experiencing that “Runners High!”
Getting in the car for a road trips to see family and friends
Coming down the stairs, looking like a movie star, smelling of perfume, a look of adoration in
my father’s eyes, sweeping off for a date.
She was:
The bluest eyes, and apple cheeks.
Brave, fearless and compassionate.
Our confidant and friend.
She will always be,
Our Mom.
