Lucille Drake
January 17th 1936 – July 15th 2026
Lucille Drake died on July 15th 2026 at Cathedral Village, Philadelphia. She was 90 years old.
She was born in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. She attended Little Flower High School and continued her education at Immaculata College and West Chester University. Later she obtained a master’s degree in computer service at Beaver College (now Acadia University) and a master’s degree in counseling at Trenton State.
Lucille taught math and later computer science for 32 years at Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland High Schools. She loved teaching and continued tutoring even after retirement.
In 2004, Lucille met Pat Drake through an online dating service. Their first date was at a Starbucks in Chestnut Hill. They enjoyed 20 years of adventures – traveling to Japan, China as well as Europe. They enjoyed cruising going as far as Fiji. They both were avid competitive bridge players. They married in January 2015 prior to moving into Cathedral Village where Lucille quickly became involved in the attic, organizing events, and bridge games.
Although her body did not always cooperate, Lucille lived her life to the fullest with a sharp mind and a bright spirit. She was sassy, independent and always styled to perfection. She was never one to pass on a great cocktail, relished a delicious meal, brought friends together for bridge nights and loved meeting new people. Upon moving into Cathedral Village, she quickly became an active member of the community by volunteering in the attic and organizing events.
Lucille is survived by her daughter Nina Schlack (Julio), stepdaughter Reiko Drake-Cortes (Alvaro) of Philadelphia, and grandsons Mateo and Thiago; stepson Sei Drake (Carla) of Wilmington, Delaware, and grandsons Aidan and Tynan.
