Lorrilee Baker Faris

February 13, 1944 – January 27, 2025

Lorrilee Baker Faris, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Bryn Mawr, PA, on January 27, 2025. Born in Southampton, NY, on February 13, 1944, to Edward and Grace Baker, Lorrilee grew up in East Hampton, NY, alongside her older sister, Diane, and her late younger brother, Ted.

Lorrilee attended SUNY Cobleskill before building a life centered on family, education, and an unwavering love for children. She was married to Phil Faris, with whom she raised their children, Philip and Melissa. She spent many joyful years in Cardiff by the Sea and Encinitas, CA, where she devoted herself to nurturing young minds at Solana Beach Presbyterian Preschool, teaching generations of children with warmth and care.

Lorrilee cherished her family. She had an extraordinary memory, recalling even the smallest details—what someone was wearing, what was said—especially when it came to her granddaughters, Haley and Caitlin. She was an avid gardener who found joy in tending to her flowers and also loved painting. Holidays, especially Christmas, were among her happiest times, as she delighted in bringing family together to celebrate and create lasting memories.

Lorrilee is survived by her son, Philip; her daughter, Melissa, and her partner, Tarek; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer; her granddaughters, Haley and Caitlin; and her sister, Diane. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to support military families. A recommended organization is the Fisher House Foundation (www.fisherhouse.org), which provides housing and support for military and veteran families during medical treatment.

A small memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Lorrilee’s life
