Krzysztof “Kristoff” Gintowt of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of January 1st, 2025, surrounded by his family. Kristoff was born on November 16th, 1946, in Krotoszyn, Poland, where he spent most of his youth, and lived throughout Europe before settling in the Philadelphia area, where he spent over 40 years raising his daughters, building his career, and making lifelong friends. He loved a range of music - from Chopin to Caribbean - and enjoyed art, history, traveling, languages, and British television shows. His favorite, life-long activity was tennis; he played avidly wherever he was in the world, along with riding bicycles and cruising on his vespa. Kristoff loved spending time in Poland, where memories of where he grew up beckoned him to return every year. He was enthusiastic about the food, language, culture, lifestyle, and the distinctive tall pine forests filled with wild berries. A vivacious, one-of-a-kind soul, Kristoff’s departure from the physical world leaves an enormous void, but his spirit lives on in everyone he loved.
He is predeceased by his parents, Irena and Aleksander and he is survived by his wife, two daughters, and his son-in-law. We miss him dearly.
A service will be held at St. Anastasia's Roman Catholic Church in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, on January 18th, 2025. Open visitations will be held from 9:30-10:30 am followed by a mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Kristoff’s memory to Little Long Ears Donkey Sanctuary in New Oxford Pennsylvania, a cause close to Kris’s heart. He never passed up the opportunity to give them a pet, even if it meant pulling the car over on a mountain highway.
