Karl “Mike” Bachman passed away peacefully at his home in Exton, PA on August 18, 2024, after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer that he was diagnosed with one month prior.
Mike was born in New Brunswick, NJ on July 30, 1958 to Karl and Evelyn (Finch) Bachman as the youngest child with two older sisters, Sandee and Debbie.
Karl was a military man who held many posts around the world (including Germany and Alaska), but by the time Mike started kindergarten, the family had settled in Laureldale, PA, where he spent summers outside with friends and played endless rounds of golf with his father.
Attending Muhlenberg High School, Mike excelled in school, and was voted most Outstanding Senior Boy by his classmates. He was gifted in sports and was named captain of his school’s golf and football teams.
After graduating from Muhlenberg High School in 1977, Mike earned a full football scholarship to the University of Delaware where he played defensive tackle and was a PROUD member of the 1978 and 1979 National Championship teams (winning in 1979!).
Mike graduated from the University of Delaware in 1981, married his college sweetheart, Laurie (McCahan), and moved to Villanova, PA, where he raised his two children, Graham and Meghan, who he adored.
Mike was a gifted salesman who enjoyed a successful 40-year career in advertising sales, providing his family with a wonderful upbringing.
After raising his kids and his subsequent divorce, Mike met and married Patti (Gilligan Woodward), became stepfather to her 3 children, Tommy, Matt, and Nick, and they shared 12 wonderful years of marriage together.
Mike leaves behind his wife Patti; his son Graham, daughter-in-law Meghan (Smith), their children Gray, Therese, and Charlie; his daughter Meghan; his stepson Tommy Woodward, daughter-in-law Alex (Shannon), their son TJ; his stepson Matt Woodward, daughter-in-law to be Lexie Hannon; his stepson Nick Woodward; and his sisters Sandee Tucker and Debbie Elliott.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The Sanctuary, Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA.
