Joan Dickerson

November 6, 1931 — August 2, 2024

Philadelphia, PA

Joan Katherine (Littleton) Dickerson, was born on November 6, 1931 and she died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on August 2, 2024. She lived 92 years, to the same age as her predeceased husband and jitterbug partner, Edward Dickerson who died in August of 2016. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Sharon (Dickerson) and Charles Wallace, Edward and Lisa Leone Dickerson, Kathy (Dickerson) Mosley, and Glenn and Anne Dickerson. She was the proud grandmother of Courtney, Brennen, Taylor, Cameron, Abigail, Ryan, Nolan, Olivia and Brian and one great grandchild, Emma. She was one of six Littleton children herself and was predeceased by Otis and Lowell and survived by Jane, Alberta and James. Joan was loved by her family for her loyalty, love and candor. She was a keypunch operator who then became a Traffic Court Officer for the City of Philadelphia before she retired. She believed strongly in her civic duty and ensuring that people exercised their right to vote. She played shortstop in a softball semi-pro league in her youth and later loved to watch her husband coach little league baseball and her sons play the game, and, of course, seeing the Phillies win. She was proud of all of her children’s accomplishments and so very loyal to the family she raised but never gave herself enough credit, so thank you Mom! For those who want to join, Joan’s life will be remembered and celebrated at her sister Alberta’s home, 187 Comanche Trail, Medford Lakes, New Jersey on August 31, 2024 at 1:00 P.M officiated by her niece, Rev. Dr. Dolores E. Littleton. Services will likely be outside so please dress comfortably (shorts are fine). In lieu of flowers, Joan would have wanted us to make donations to the Gaudenzia House in her memory: Gift Information (donorperfect.net). Notifications of donations can be sent to her daughter, Kathy, at kjmece123@gmail.com so gratitude can be expressed. Questions about the service can also be emailed.
