July 12, 1934 — May 8, 2025

Oxford, PA

Jerry Marshall Harrar, 90, of Quakertown, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Born on July 12, 1934 in Sellersville, PA, Jerry was the son of Mary Scanlin and Ralph Harrar. He grew up in Telford and graduated from Souderton High School before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served with honor as an aviation mechanic. His service included both sea and foreign duty, and he remained deeply proud of his time in the military.

After completing his service, Jerry returned home and became a local business owner, opening Harrar’s Luncheonette in Chalfont, PA. In time, he transformed the space into 3 Seas Car Wash, one of the first car washes in Bucks County, showing the entrepreneurial spirit that marked much of his life.

Jerry was the proud father of four children: daughters Rhonda Detwiler and Karen Roselle, and sons Jerry Patrick Harrar and Michael Harrar. He was also a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, a guiding presence in his family’s life whose quiet wisdom and heartfelt stories left a lasting impact.

He spent most of his later years in Quakertown, PA where he lived a quiet and self reliant life surrounded by nature and the animals he cared for, including exotic birds, dogs, chickens, goats, and more. A true do-it-yourselfer, Jerry believed there was nothing he couldn’t fix, or at least try to. That same independence made him a bit stubborn at times, but always admirably so.

To those who knew him well, Jerry was a philosopher at heart. He was curious, thoughtful, and full of empathy. His stories were never just entertainment. They were life lessons, filled with humor, hard-won wisdom, and deep feeling. Despite his tough exterior and his preference for solitude, he was a deeply emotional and compassionate man who was often moved to tears when sharing meaningful memories.

He approached life with creativity and curiosity, always trying something new, whether it was experimenting with cooking or brewing his own kombucha. Jerry didn’t take shortcuts. He lived with intention and left behind a legacy of resilience, care, and insight.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
