Frances Port, “Franny” of Folcroft, PA passed away peacefully with her family by her side on
October 20, 2024.
Fran was born in South Philadelphia to Louis and Raphaela Colalongo. She grew up and spent
her early years in South Philly. After meeting her future husband, John J. Port, she moved to
Folcroft in the summer of 1964, where she remained for the rest of her wonderful life. Fran was
the proud mother of three children—Donna, John, and Eric—a grandmother to eight, and a
great-grandmother to nine.
Fran left this world the same way she lived in it—on her own terms and full of fire. Her energy
was contagious, and even in her late 80s, she could take over a room in minutes, whether she
was performing a TikTok, singing karaoke, explaining a conspiracy theory, or convincing you to
take her to the casino.
She spent many years working in the catering industry, much of that time with Mancini Catering.
She was also a hostess at the Lamp Post Restaurant in Rehoboth, DE, and the Media Inn. Most
recently, she worked for many years as a receptionist at Little Flower Manor. While she loved
being a mother, her greatest joy was being ‘Mom-Mom'.
She cherished time with her family, especially Sunday dinners, she loved hanging out at
underground hair salons with her friends, and going on casino trips with anyone willing to take
her. Just as long as they didn’t expect her to hang out with them once she got there! It was hard
to be around Franny and not laugh—she made life interesting. Family gatherings will
undoubtedly never be the same without her.
Franny was predeceased by her parents Louis and Raphaela, her brothers Sonny and Dominic,
and her husband John. She is survived by her children, Donna Marie Montagno (Mike Ammon),
John A. Port Sr (Rosemary) and Eric Port (Sylvia Porta), Annamaria (Rich). She also is survived
by her grandchildren, John Port, Jr (Kristen), Anthony Montagno, Vincent Port (Bethany), Dara
Wenzel (Robert), Gia Montagno, Nicholas Port, Talia Port, and Angelo Port, great grandchildren
Brady, Mia, Lyla, JJ, Madison, Landon, Collins, Julian, Avianna.
