We celebrate the life of Frances Madeline Beam as we announce her passing on June 11, 2025. Fran was the youngest of 5, born on August 31, 1940, to the late Francis and Madeline (Clark) Beam, in Philadelphia, Pa., where she continued to reside throughout her life.
Fran began her career as a Registered Nurse in the operating room at Einstein Hospital, where she met her lifelong Mahjong friends. Her career shifted to that of a school nurse for the Philadelphia School District when her children became of school age. For many years, Fran worked full time and took night and Saturday classes to acquire her Bachelor's degree from Glassboro College in 1984. Her love of learning continued as she received her Master's degree from Beaver College in 1988.
A loving Mother, Gram, Great Gram, and caring friend, Fran is survived by her daughter Karen Wolford (Gerald III), her son Andrew Wolfenden (Karin), her grandchildren, Gerald IV (Elizabeth), Madeline (Martin Jr), William, Sara, Hollie, as well as her great grandchildren, Gerald V, Emma, Lincoln, Martin III, and Olivia, and her countless valuable friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Fran was a sports enthusiast, not only did she enjoy watching the Phillies, Eagles, and women’s college softball, she played sports in high school and continued competing into her senior years. Fran had many hobbies throughout her life; she loved to learn, travel, read, crochet, paint, work on puzzles, and bake, as sweets were her favorite. Her generosity and kindness to others were unwavering and will be beautifully remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life service on July 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Gloria Dei Estates, 1304 Rhawn St., Philadelphia, PA 19111. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a service to follow. Parking in the visitors lot on Dungan Road.
Frances Madeline Beam will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and laughter. Her bright and outgoing personality. Her love of learning, generous nature, and ability to help others. We invite those who loved her to join us in celebrating her life and legacy.
