Fay K. State
March 1, 1923 – May 9, 2024
The planet lost a stellar human on May 9th. Fay passed away peacefully at the age of 101 at the Horsham Center in North Wales, PA. Raised in the Bronx, NY, Fay graduated from Walton High School at the age of 16 and soon gained employment in Manhattan as a secretary/bookkeeper in the jewelry industry. She worked for many years at New York City's Rockefeller Center in an office overlooking its skating rink, and each year she enjoyed watching the raising and lighting of the world-renowned Christmas tree from her office window. She married and raised a son and daughter in Bayside, Queens. In 1974, she and her husband moved to Florida, where she lived happily for over 40 years. Fay was lucky in love, having had two happy, long-lasting marriages, but sadly lost both husbands to cancer. In 2016, at age 93, Fay moved to Pennsylvania to be nearer to family. Fay was an avid reader, card player, and world traveler, and loved attending live theater, concerts and dance performances. She was a wiz in accounting and financial matters and imparted that wisdom to her family. She kept current with news and world events and was spirited in her opinions. Fay is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, loyal and loving son and daughter-in-law, dedicated nieces and nephews, two devoted grandsons and a great-grandson. She leaves behind many caring friends, including numerous caretakers at the Horsham Center with whom she developed individual bonds over the years.
A Celebration of Life for Fay will be planned for the near future.
