Ethel Donna Carucci, age 76, of Upper Chichester, PA., passed away unexpectedly at home, on January 9, 2024. Born in Chester, PA., and formerly of Wilmington, DE., and Brigantine, NJ., she was the daughter of the late Philip J. Carucci, and Phyllis Southard Allen.
Prior to retirement, Ethel was an avid career woman, spending her early years in the beauty industry as a talented hair stylist. She was also employed by General Motors for years, until retiring at the beach. Later in life, Ethel decided to go back to school to earn a degree to work in the medical field, as an office administrator, manager, and phlebotomist for various physicians.
Ethel had a feisty and fun personality and enjoyed life to the fullest with many passions. She had a multitude of hobbies as a talented artist, ranging from painting, quilting, sketching, sewing, dancing, and cooking. If she wasn't busy creating one of her masterpieces, you could find her on the dance floor, partying! One of her biggest joys in life was carrying on family traditions for the holiday season, with extensive decorating and homemade meals. She delighted in preparing huge family dinners, ranging from Italian specialties, like her "family famous" rigatonis, and cakes, to her ultimate favorite, the elaborate Thanksgiving Day Feast. She will be fondly remembered, not only for her culinary skills, but also her enormous Christmas gardens, under the tree, that could rival any department store's decor. She made certain that the holidays were special and took great pride in her displays. In her leisure time, Ethel enjoyed the beach and sunshine, swimming, Maryland Blue Crab Feasts, reading, puzzles, music, games, romantic movies, and true-life documentaries. There was forever a soft spot in her heart for animals, and she relished many years with her beloved dogs, cats, and birds.
Ethel was a fiercely loyal and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She certainly was one with a huge heart, and especially a loving, generous, and caring Auntie E, who made life fun and entertaining for her nieces and nephews. Ethel was truly a second Mom to them.
Ethel was predeceased by her parents, her son, Daniel, and only three weeks prior, her sister Phyllis Fairfield, with whom she shared a special bond. They are now reunited and having a laugh together again. Ethel is survived by her sister Jeanne S. Havrilla, of Wilmington, DE., nieces Phyllis Fairfield Miller (Robert), of Hockessin, DE., Joanna Fairfield, of Brigantine, NJ., Stephen D. Fairfield, Jr. (Carly), of Landenberg, PA., and 7 great-nieces and nephews, the Fairfield Children: Daniel, Elle, Brooke, Olivia, Stephen III, Rhett, and Scarlett.
"Where there is grief, there is love."
