HART ERIC MANN Oct. 17, 1943 - January 24, 2024 Died at the end of the day on January 24, 2024 with his dogs, Fletcher and Sheldon at his side in Philadelphia, PA. Born October 17, 1943 to Ted and Janet Hart in Buffalo, New York, Eric was the youngest of four children. In 1954 the family moved to Richmond, Virginia where Eric made life long friends and met his first wife, Diane. Eric matriculated to Virginia Military Institute in the fall of 1961 on a football scholarship. He was part of the team that won the Southern Conference in 1962. After completing his military service, Eric joined the management training program for Philadelphia National Bank in 1967 beginning a long, successful career in banking. He spent most of his career with PNB, which became CoreStates, before joining Fidelity Bank. In the early '90s he launched his own consultancy working with international financial institutions to evaluate their credit and risk management processes. He travelled all over the world for work and for pleasure stimulated by learning about new cultures, their food and practices. Eric was well known for his tireless work ethic, love of cooking, voracious appetite for reading, and passion for sailing. His family and friends will greatly miss his uniquely dry sense of humor and gift for the perfectly timed, witty comment. Eric is survived by his wife, Adrienne, three children, Brian (Jane) of Pepper Pike, Ohio, Sara of Richmond, Virginia and Andrew of Amherst, Massachusetts and six grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Nan, Sally and Fritz and many family dogs including Dudley Peepers, Mookie and Zeke. Gifts in his memory may be made to The VMI Foundation, Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) or the charitable organization of your choice. Services will be private.
