Elaine Thilo

 Elaine Thilo, 77, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully at VITAS Hospice Center, on 9/7/24.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on 8/28/47. Elaine graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rider University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She was a member of the Honor Key Society and was published in the Social Policy Magazine. Elaine devoted her career to helping people with Intellectual Disabilities. She retired as a Program Analyst Supervisor from IDS. Upon her retirement, she continued her quest for helping others by volunteering at the local hospital where she made numerous friends and touched many lives.

Elaine loved to travel and had a passion for lighthouses and Clipper ships.

She found immense joy and comfort spending time with her family. She was known for her kindness, warm smile, and her deep commitment to her family and friends. She spent her life enriching the lives of those around her, always offering a helping hand or a listening ear. Her generosity and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Elaine was preceded in death by Adelaide Knopp (Mother), Theresa Fleck (sister) and best friend Shirley Carroll. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Olszewski ( Frank) and Kathy Trappler (Nathan) as well as Nieces Amanda Formosa, Candice Logan (Chuck), Kiley Panah (Ozair), Treavor Walbert (Kevin), Tiffany McFarland (Nayef), Josie Richards and Nephew Jeremy Trappler (Kara) as well as 5 great nieces and 5 great nephews.

She will be deeply missed by her family and her close friends, who will forever hold her in their hearts.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Elaine's life will be held on September 22, 2024, at Cannstatter Volksfest Verein, 9130 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19114. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM with a prayer followed by a eulogy from her family.
