Edmund George Tornay, 88, of Sunnyside, Queens, New York died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at his residence in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 18, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Sunnyside, Queens with his late parents, Leslie and Georgina Greene Tornay, and his late brother, Richard. Survivors include his beloved wife, Joan Marie, of Los Angeles; his sons, Ian (Maureen) Tornay of Oreland, PA, Christopher Tornay of Manhattan, NY, Michael Tornay of Uniondale, PA, and Toby Tornay of Brooklyn, NY; and his grandchildren, Sarah Tornay, Sophia Tornay, and Paul Tornay. He graduated from Webb Institute as a Naval Architect in 1956. He traveled the world throughout the course of his career and raised his children in London, England, Genoa, Italy, New York, New York, and Charleston, South Carolina. His greatest joy in life was playing tennis with his friends and family. Edmund was a dedicated husband and father with a great sense of humor who made an impression on everyone he met. He was loved by many.
