Dorothy (née Thompson) Gauntlett, age 90, of Media, Pennsylvania, formerly of

Upper Darby and Newtown Square, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31,

2026.


Born to the late Sarah Dorothy (Griggs) Thompson and Thomas Evans Thompson,

Dorothy graduated from Upper Darby High School and received her

undergraduate and masters degree from West Chester State College.


Dorothy was able to share her passion for music in teaching at Aronimink

Elementary School where she inspired many generations of students. Her love of

music was continued by her commitment to Newtown Square Presbyterian

Church, where she served as Music Director and Organist, as well as a Deacon,

Elder, and member of Session.


Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Gauntlett, and her

sister, Janet T. Prevost.


She is survived by her loving children, Robert Gauntlett (Renee) of Dawsonville,

Georgia, and Kimberly Rahi (Joseph) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and by her adored

grandchildren, Hunter Gauntlett (Alison), Jonathan Rahi, and Kate Gauntlett, and

also great grandchildren Ella Gauntlett and Graham Gauntlett.


Dorothy will be remembered for her steadfast faith, gracious spirit, elegant sense

of style, and deep love for her family. Truly, she was a good and faithful servant.


A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 15, 2026, in Towne

Hall at Riddle Village Community, 1048 West Baltimore Pike, Media,

Pennsylvania. Family and friends are invited to greet the family beginning at

1:00 pm, prior to the service.
