Charles G. Schaefer

Charles “Charlie” Schaefer, 82, of Pipersville, Pennsylvania, passed into his eternal home in Heaven on July 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children and his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted father and grandfather, gifted musician, teacher, farmer, and servant of God, Charlie lived a full life marked by music, hard work, and abundant enthusiasm.

Charlie obtained a bachelor’s degree in music education from West Chester University and a master’s degree from Lehigh University. He paid his way through college by lifeguarding at Tohickon Valley Park, playing the organ at local churches and cutting hair in the student dorms. Upon graduation, he began his career as a music teacher at New Hope-Solebury Elementary School, later followed by a position at Buckingham Friends School. Always creative, he began a business, teaching young aspiring musicians piano, strings and percussion in their homes.

A lifelong resident of Pipersville, Charlie built his own home, “Honey Lake,” on Cafferty Road, a short distance from where he was raised. A jack-of-all trades, Charlie built his house, dug a pond, harvested acres of land with hay, fruit and vegetables, tended bees and tapped trees each spring to make maple syrup. His love of the area led him to be elected as Tinicum Township supervisor, where he helped serve the interests of his community.

Charlie also put his musical gifts into service for the Lord as the church organist and choir director at Point Pleasant Baptist Church. He led worship, directed cantatas and helped generations praise the Lord through song. His love for Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, and he freely shared his testimony.

Charlie cherished his family, who affectionately referred to him as Daddy-O, Gramps and Jazzy Chazzy. Some of his family’s best memories include enjoying the many delicious fruits of his labors, long summer trips out west in their VW van, church services and events, canoe trips down the Delaware River, camping, beach trips, ice skating, holiday parties, fishing in the pond, and countless days spent relaxing at Honey Lake, the place where Charlie was the happiest.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Christopher (Sara) Schaefer; Charlene (Harvey) Dash; and Carrie (Eric) Jensen. He also leaves behind two brothers and their wives, John (Kathy)Schaefer, and Robert (Doris) Schaefer, along with his beloved grandchildren, Caleb and Caroline Burrows; and Samantha Schaefer, as well as his niece, Kelly (Mark) Ruggiero.

Charlie will be remembered for his joyful spirit, steadfast faith, and the beautiful music he created and taught that touched so many lives. His love for the Lord, his family, his church and his community leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Memorial services and interment will be private. Donations in his name may be made to the charity of choice.
