Catherine Kane

Catherine (McCloskey) Kane of Somerton passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024. She was surrounded by her best friends, amazing husband (Chris Kane) and children, Christopher Kane (Caitlin Kane) and Elizabeth Gillespie (Matt Gillespie). Her grandson, Ryan Gillespie will forever have his "angel Nan". Cathy adored her three brothers: Jack McCloskey, Jim McCloskey and Dan McCloskey. Cathy and Chris started their love story at LaSalle University. This December they reached 49 years. The definition of partnership and love.

Cathy went on to become a teacher at Saint Williams where she would wake up every day to teach children for nearly 30 years. She loved her job and the friends and community she found there.

Her loyalty was fierce. Like a bull dog or a golden retriever. Depends on who you were. She adored her loving husband of 49 years. In those years came Christopher and Elizabeth. Together the foursome rocked and rolled in their red Isuzu truck mainly up and down the east coast listening to Elvis and the Allman Brothers Band. Her most favorite spots were Ocean City, NJ where she reigns wiffle ball champion of 39th street and West Dennis, MA where she competed in the Kelley's Pond floating competition, and won.

Her entire life she always wanted to get to Kansas City. She stood on the corner of 12th Street and Vine. She almost took a train but then thought she should take a plane-either way she’d get there just the same.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Cathy when the weather gets nicer. Our friends and family will be notified. In the meantime, please consider playing your favorite Bob Marley song in her honor.
