WALTERS BYRLE (nee SLOAN) Age 83, of Wynnewood, PA passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 in Newtown Square, PA. She devoted herself to her family and brought her creativity to life as an artist, photographer and educator. Her radiant smile, sharp wit, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born in 1942 to Albert and Jane Sloan, Byrle grew up in Merion Park, PA, later moving to Bryn Mawr. She graduated from The Baldwin School in 1960 and went on to attend Colby-Sawyer Junior College and Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree. After college, she returned to the Philadelphia area and, in 1965, married George M. Walters Jr., with whom she had three children. Though they went their separate ways, they reconnected later in life through their shared love for their children Greg, Lindsey, and Suzanne. Byrle began her professional career as a teacher at The Episcopal Academy before becoming a beloved second grade teacher at The Agnes Irwin School, where she taught for nineteen years. She brought creativity, compassion, and joy to her classroom. During this time, she also earned a Master's in Education from Villanova University. Byrle also studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). Byrle's time at PAFA sparked a lifelong passion for painting, drawing, and photography. She worked in a variety of mediums and received awards and recognition for her photography. Following her retirement, Byrle traveled the globe, played weekly tennis with friends and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her three children and four grandchildren, Lucia, Riley, Logan and Talia. Byrle's love of art, learning and laughter will live on in each of them. A Celebration of Life gathering for Byrle will be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 1-3 P.M. in the Education Building at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. In lieu of flowers, donations in Byrle's memory may be made to: The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Chanticleer Garden of Philadelphia, or The Penn Memory Center.
