Benjamin Joseph Zacharczyk, 42, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 11 after a brief but mighty battle with cancer. Ben was born in Honesdale, PA on May 4, 1980. After graduating from Stockton University with a degree in Computer Science, he then pursued a successful career as a systems administrator first at Wawa Corporate, then with American Water. While attending Stockton, Ben met Emily, the love of his life, and they married July 18, 2009. They welcomed their daughter Cecily (the person who made his heart sing more than any other) in October 2020 and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their second child in January 2023.  Ben wanted more than anything in life to be a good husband and father, and he succeeded beyond all measure on both counts.  He was truly the best of men.

Ben loved tinkering with computers and electronic gadgets and was everybody’s go-to-guy for technology help. He was a very caring man, eager to help anyone however he could.  He had a wry sense of humor and was quietly, deeply funny.  Often serious and quiet to outsiders, he was quick to smile with his family and especially at silly Halloween movies and Christmas specials. Ben was always up for an adventure and enjoyed camping, visiting historic and cultural sites, as well as tagging along to various sheep and wool festivals with Emily.

Ben is also survived by his mother, Susan Benedetto-Goetz; his stepfather Donald Goetz; his sister, Meagan Hassan; his parents-in-law Judy and Bill Wray, and his brother-in-law Jeremy Wray.  We will all miss him more than words can contemplate.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 20 from 12 to 2pm at the Media Community Center in Media, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/CCFMemorial/team/BenjaminZacharczy
