Barbara Jean Horner

Barbara Jean Horner, (nee Hawthorne, Sparling), daughter of Alexander Hawthorne & Winifred FERN Paul, adopted by Albert Sparling & Lillian Hawthorne.
Born 11-20-28. Died 2-13-26 at 97 years at Philadelphia Protestant Home (PPH). Widow to LeRoy Horner (Burholme). Mother to Wayne Robert, David LeRoy (Janette), Kenneth Allen (Terri, deceased), Marilyn (Joe McCarthy), and Brian John (Carolyn). Also survived by grandchildren Jason, Kenneth, Jesse, & Alexandra and great grandchild Henry Felix.
Barbara was born in Denver, lived 4 years in Kansas, then grew up in the Torresdale Area of Philly. Barbara & Roy raised their family on Van Kirk Street and then Jeanes Street in Fox Chase.
She worked for the Medical Mission Sisters and then in Records at Jeanes Hospital.
Barb & Roy also lived some years in Indianapolis, IN near their daughter. After Roy passed Barb went back to Philly and has lived at PPH since. First in Independent Apartment, then Personal Care, and lastly Pathways nursing area.
Barbara always wore a pleasant smile. She was a good neighbor, friend and friend to her childrens’ friends. She was Barbara the Barber for them too. She always made time to talk. She touched the lives of many in positive ways. Barbara Jean was a loving wife and Mother. Barbara is greatly missed by her family and friends. And will always be in our hearts.
