While her children were young, Ticker dedicated herself to volunteer work at the Church of the Advocate, gardening and bridge clubs. In the early sixties she started working, first as a lab assistant at Women’s Medical College, then as an ultrasound technician at The Philadelphia VA Medical Center before retiring in 1994.
In her free time, Ticker loved to garden, sunbathe at a pool or the ocean, ski, sail, cook, and play tennis. Most activities revolved around enjoying her many friends.
Ticker is survived by her two daughters Annette “Nancy” Ballard (Brennan Preine) and Caroline Ballard (Gerald Smith) and two grandchildren, John and Samuel Preine. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Lucy.
