Weiss Ann Thornburg Dec. 21, 1955 - Dec. 17, 2023 Age 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2023. Born in Philadelphia on December 21, 1955, Ann and her sister Mary Jane are the daughters of Professor Robert Brenner Thornburg and Jean Decker Thornburg, of Allentown. Ann attended Gettysburg College, graduating with honors in the Class of 1977. Ann met her future husband, John Anderson Weiss, while at Gettysburg. After their marriage in 1979, Ann received her juris doctorate from Temple University Beasley School of Law. Following law school, Ann clerked for Judge Donald E. Wieand of the Pennsylvania Superior Court and proceeded to join the law firm of Timoney Knox LLP in 1984 where she handled complex civil and environmental litigation matters and was the first woman invited into the firm's partnership. Ann was also a committed public servant, serving as Upper Dublin Township Commissioner for six years and Montgomery County Clerk of Courts for 12 years. A self-described "Democratic Warrior Woman," Ann was proud to support the Montgomery County Democratic Party. Ann also served on the Board of Directors of the Community Ambulance Association in Ambler, as Councilmember and Council President of Upper Dublin Lutheran Church, as a volunteer with the Interfaith Hospitality Network, and as a first grade Sunday School teacher. Ann frequently gathered with her family and their golden retriever, Billy, at their cottage on Lake Wallenpaupack. Ann is survived by her husband John, of Dresher, their son John Anderson Weiss, Jr., married to Kristin Marie Kopec, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her sister Mary Jane Thornburg Brochu, of Allentown. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Friends are invited to Ann's funeral, to be held Tuesday, December 19 at 11:00 A.M. at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church at 411 Susquehanna Rd., Ambler. Visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
