Andrea Dougherty, 43, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully on August 11th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Andrea faced her illness with remarkable bravery and determination, all while continuing to be a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend.
Born in Dallas, TX, on March 20th, 1981, to William Parsley and the late Jayne Parsley, Andrea was raised in Coopersburg, PA, and graduated from Southern Lehigh High School. Drawn to interior design from an early age, inspired by her late Aunt Jill Denke, Andrea attended Indiana University, where she proudly graduated from IU's Interior Design program. After graduating, Andrea returned to the Philadelphia area, where she had a highly successful career as an interior designer, working for architecture firms including Nelson, Cubellis Associates, and most recently NORR, where she was a Senior Associate and Studio Manager. Her talents and leadership were highly regarded by colleagues and clients alike.
Andrea is survived by her husband, Paul Dougherty, and their two children, Collin, 10, and Evelyn, 8. Her children were the light of her life and gave her the strength to endure.
Along with her father, Bill and stepmother, Janet, Andrea is survived by her siblings Monica Deka (Soumitra), Lauren Evans (Mike), and Eugene Ordway, who all provided unwavering support and unconditional love over her lifetime.
Andrea was predeceased by her grandparents Evelyn and Russell Allen, and William and Ruth Parsley.
Andrea was a voracious reader who loved gardening, singing, cooking, traveling, cheering on Collin’s soccer team with their soccer family, and watching Evelyn grow into an exceptional dancer. Viewing Project Runway with Evelyn and special time drawing with Collin were her two guilty pleasures.
A memorial service to celebrate Andrea’s life will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 21st at Saint Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, Pennsylvania, at the outdoor pavilion. Please arrive at the Chapel by 10:55 AM and remain in your vehicle for cemetery staff to lead a car procession to the pavilion. Guests are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the Springfield Country Club, 400 W. Sproul Road, Springfield, immediately following the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made in Andrea's memory to the Sarcoma Foundation (www.curesarcoma.org).
