In Loving Memory of Alice Gardner
Alice Gardner was the kind of person whose warmth was felt the moment she entered a room. Family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by the people she loved most.
Alice worked tirelessly to raise her children, Ron and Carolyn, giving of herself with strength, dedication, and unwavering love. She spent much of her life in food service—a role that perfectly reflected her nature: caring for others, nurturing them, and ensuring no one went without. She lived by the motto “divide small, serve all,” and every day she embodied it. No one ever left her table hungry, unseen, or unwelcome.
She cherished her brother Charles and his wife Sammy, and she adored her grandchildren—Jonathan, Sara, Charlie, Alexandria, and Riley—as well as her precious great-grandson, Lucas. Alice also welcomed her son-in-law, Frank, with love, embracing him as part of her family. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, celebrating every accomplishment with joy and endless encouragement. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, always ready with kind words, a warm hug, or a proud smile.
Holidays held a special place in Alice’s heart. She loved bringing everyone together, filling her home with laughter, love, and traditions that will be cherished for generations. She also treasured simple, meaningful moments—especially her “lunches with Mom” with her daughter after doctor’s appointments. Those meals were more than just lunch; they were moments of connection, comfort, and love that will always be treasured.
Alice had a playful, loving spirit that brightened everyone’s day. She loved singing “Happy Birthday” to family and friends, often calling at the crack of dawn to celebrate you. Music brought her immense joy—whether it was the blues, Tito Puente, Marvin Gaye, or Tina Turner—and she sometimes danced down the hallway, letting her happiness fill the room. She also loved watching football, cheering on the game with the same enthusiasm she brought to every part of her life. Those songs, dances, and games now carry her memory and her zest for life.
Her love extended far beyond her immediate family. She cherished her cousins and the laughter and memories they shared. Friends became family to her, many lovingly calling her “Mom,” while her grandchildren’s friends knew her as “Nan”—a title she carried with pride. She offered love, care, and guidance to all who came through her door. Alice was also a loyal and compassionate friend, always ready to listen, encourage, and support her loved ones.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the nursing staff at Alice’s assisted living community for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed her each day. A very special thank you is extended to Shianne—affectionately known as “Betty”—her beloved “adopted granddaughter,” whose love, laughter, and genuine care brought Alice so much comfort and joy. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
In her later years, Alice experienced the true heart of Jesus and found freedom from fear. Even at 80, she began to know her Savior more deeply, surrendering her burdens and finding peace, joy, and victory in Him.
We will miss the spontaneous road trips, the unexpected adventures, and the laughter-filled moments she brought into our lives. These memories are treasures we will carry forever.
Though she is no longer with us, Alice’s love remains deeply rooted in our hearts. Her spirit lives on in her family, in our memories, and in the unconditional love she gave. We hold close the hope that she is now reunited with her beloved huni Boston, together again in peace, watching over us with the same love she shared throughout her life.
A memorial dinner will be planned in the future to celebrate her life, bringing family and friends together to honor her legacy.
Alice Gardner will always be missed, and she will always be loved
