Thomas Emanuel Mc Garry

 Thomas E. “Tom” McGarry, 73, former resident of Darby and Drexel Hill and house painter of nearly 50 years, died peacefully in his sleep on July 13. Born and raised in the southwest section of Philadelphia, Tom attended West Catholic High School. Tom moved to Darby in the 70’s and raised his children there. Tom was an active and attentive father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always willing to play and help out with the kids and they loved his humor and fun personality. In the 70’s and 80’s he enjoyed road trips and camping with family in his VW bus. Later, he loved riding dirt bikes, going to the beach at Ocean City, NJ, and discussing all things supernatural. In his later years, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, reading novels and tinkering on his legendary work van. Tom was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth McGarry and is survived by his sisters Kassy and Mary, his son Tommy, daughter Erin, grandchildren Marissa, Trista, Lucy, Juliet, Ava and great-grandchild Waverly.
