Joyce Hackenyos

July 2, 1938 — February 24, 2021

Joyce Parkinson Hackenyos departed this world and was received into the presence of Jesus Christ after a protracted struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  We are thankful that she is now at peace.  Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lenore Hackenyos (Tony Rizzi), her grandchildren, Alexander Dimov (Jen), Amber Miller (Jake), Monika West, and Samuel Dimov, and her five great-grandchildren, Nexus, Avery, Cadence, Harper and Emma; her sister Beverly Hasenmayer, and her brother-in law William Hackenyos, and his wife, Joyce's life-long friend, Eileen Hackenyos. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F, and son Charles P Hackenyos, and her parents, Samuel Harry and Elsie Newsome Parkinson. A graduate of Eastern Baptist College, Joyce spent many years as a teacher and tutor in schools in and around Philadelphia. She also volunteered with the Frankford High School Alumni Association and the Churchville Nature Center.  She loved traveling, spending time in nature, and cooking and playing with her grandchildren when they were little.  A memorial service will be held privately at a future date.  Memorial gifts can be sent to The Churchville Nature Center (as a Donation) at https://www.churchvillenaturecenter.org/?job=transaction_add or 501 Churchville Lane, Churchville, PA 18966.
