                  REIDA JOANNE SPANG TRAMSEN

With sadness at the time of death, and confidence in the promises of God, we share with you that  Reida Joanne Spang Tramsen, 91 years of age, died on 1-11-2021.  Reida was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 and one half years, Robert K. Tramsen, who died just weeks before her, on 12-25-2020.  Reida was also predeceased by her Mother, Dorothy Rudert Spang, her father Clarence Moore Spang, and sister Frances Spang Fetterolf.  Reida was the cherished mother of Kye Tramsen Morrow, grandmother of Taylor Morrow Suriano (Luke Suriano), aunt of Regan J. Fetterolf and Scott F. Fetterolf (Terri), five great nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews, and several cousins.
Reida was born in Saxonburg, PA, into a family with early American roots.  Her maternal lineage to German founding fathers of Saxonburg and her paternal lineage to English colonial settlers provided a rich family history.  Reida attended schools in Saxonburg and Butler PA. She graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education with Certification in Special Education.  She was a skilled and compassionate special education teacher, first at Erie Public Schools and later at Butler Junior High School in the Butler County School District.
Reida met her future husband, Bob, while they both attended Butler High School.  Bob went to Thiel College and then served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. Reida and Bob married toward the end of Bob’s service, on June 12, 1954. Their long marriage was a source of great pride and happiness for them both. With daughter Kye, they spent many happy years in the Butler area surrounded by all sides of their extended family. Family reunions and picnics in Butler and Saxonburg were favorite times.
Reida and her family subsequently relocated several times as Bob’s sales and management career with Symons Manufacturing Company progressed.  Reida devoted herself to creating comfortable, happy homes for her family in Pittsburg (PA), Livonia (MI), Hudson (OH), Berwyn (PA) and West Chester (PA).  She developed personal and family friends and social connections through Welcome Wagon, local Women’s Clubs, Bridge Groups, and Newcomer’s Club organizations in each new town. Reida was known as a talented cook and gracious hostess; she and Bob enjoyed cocktail and dinner parties, bridge nights, and impromptu get-togethers.
Reida and Bob enjoyed a special love and closeness with their only child, Kye. That love was increased tenfold with the birth of Taylor, their granddaughter. Taylor was born the day they moved into their West Chester PA home. She was their absolute joy; a joy made all the more special when Kye and Taylor also moved to West Chester.  Reida and Bob were blessed to be able to watch Taylor grow into a beautiful, compassionate young woman, graduate college, embark on a career, marry, and progress on her career path.
Reida was a perfectionist with a fierce loyalty to her family, a wry sense of humor, a ready laugh, and a keen mind. She loved to read, cook, entertain, play bridge, and spend time with her family.  While living in Berwyn, she enjoyed her “second” career as an assistant in an architectural office.  Reida was a lifelong churchgoer and Christian.  She and Bob were members of Willistown United Methodist Church in West Chester for 22 years.  Reida faithfully served on the Altar Guild and numerous other church committees.
We, who remain, find comfort in knowing that Reida and Bob are reunited once again and are spending the rest of eternity together with God.
