Mrs. Vivian Grey (Hoffman) Miller, age 91, of Haverford, PA, passed away on November 19, 2018 at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA. She was born on February 28, 1927 to the late Harry and Rachel (Friedlander) Hoffman. She attended Cornell University as an undergraduate student and Columbia University for graduate school. Vivian was the wife of the late Theodore (Ted) Miller and was preceded in death by her brother, Israel Hoffman and her daughter, Jacqueline Grey. Vivian is survived by her daughter, Leslie Grey, and granddaughter, Rebecca (Schneider) Devine.
Vivian was an accomplished author for young adults and was an expert in publishing for children's books. She passionately taught writing workshops at University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Rosemont College, Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, and Main Line School Night, among others. She proudly founded the Rutgers University Council on Children's Literature, which will be hosting it's 50th anniversary conference in October 2019.
Vivian loved spending summers in LBI at her house in Loveladies and at her request, her ashes will be scattered there next summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences, a place that was always home to Vivian, whether she was teaching, enjoying an event, or volunteering.
