Margo Lieberman, 91, formerly of Santa Monica, CA died on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at in Philadelphia, PA. She was born in Ichenhausen, Germany on July 9, 1926 to Eduard and Gerti (Alexander) Lieberman.
Margo emigrated to New York City with her family in 1939, to escape Nazi Germany. She graduated from Central Commercial Highschool in 1942. She moved to Southern California in 1966, worked as secretary at MGM and LA Public Schools, and actively supported many progressive political causes including farm worker’s rights, animal rights, and civil rights.
Margo was long-time volunteer at the public library, and a former member of University Synagogue. She is remembered as a vivacious and independent person. In 2016, she moved to Philadelphia to be closer to family.
Family and members of Congregation Dor Hadash in Pittsburgh, PA, will gather on Thursday, June 28th, at the home of Ruth and Sy Drescher, her sister and brother-in-law.
The family requests donations to Doctors without Borders, or Amnesty International in Margo’s memory.
