Alfred L. Brown

 "Alfred L. Brown, passed on Aug. 29, 2017. Born in Richmond VA., Alfred was an active member of the Montford Point Marine association having received a Congressional Gold Medal for his service in World War II. He marched in Civil Rights protests in Philadelphia and Washington D.C. and graduated from the Virginia State University in 1950. A loving husband to Carol Brown, Alfred worked for the Philadelphia Department of Recreation and officiated the Penn Relays. He was a supporter of liberal and social causes who will be survived by his son, Doren Brown, Sr., daughter in law, Barbara Brown, grandson, Doren Brown, Jr., as well as the Sandidge and Spaulding families. Alfred (Lew) Brown will be missed by his family and friends, nationwide." Services and interment private.
