Brian David Williams

Brian David Williams, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died peacefully in the early hours of May 31, 2017.  Brian was born on August 23, 1963 to Jack and Barbara Williams at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco.  The Williams family moved to New Jersey the following year.  In 1969, the Williams family moved to Monroe, Louisiana, where Brian began school at Jack Hayes Elementary School.  In 1972, the Williams family moved to Chamblee, Georgia where Brian attended Dresden Elementary and Sequoyah High School.  The Williams family then moved back to New Jersey where Brian graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1982.  Brian took classes at both Camden County College and the Community College of Philadelphia.  Brian was multi-talented with a great appreciation for art and music.  Brian was an accomplished artist and has sold many paintings professionally. 

Brian worked at St. Mary’s, Hamilton Village, the Episcopal Church at Penn for many years, along side of his sister, Alison.  Brian worked with Peachtree Catering for a number of years, along side of his sisters, Alison and Jeanine and his brother, Ian.  Brian also worked at a number of branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia for almost twenty years (1998 to 2017), including his last assignment at the Parkway Central Library. 

Brian is survived by his mother, Barbara Williams, sister Cathy Plowden (David), sister Jeanine Wiater (Keith), sister-in-law Liz Nichberger (Steve), sister Alison Williams (Todd Sandler), brother Ian, brother Devin (Eva Murphy), his ten nieces and nephews, Katie, Joe, Erica, Shannon, Spencer, Max, Julia, Claire,  Becca and Oliver, his niece-in-law Polina and his nephew-in-law Jake along with many loving friends, including Ruth Frances Dubb, Sadie Britt (Dave Symolon) and Volante Roberts.

Brian is a loving soul like no one else.  Brian would give a person in need his last dollar or the shirt off of his back.  Brian had many long-term friendships in Fairmount and at the Free Library of Philadelphia.  Brian also had many close relationships with animals in his life including Teddy, Darryl, Darryl, Oscar, Jeff and George. Brian was a wonderful, generous artist who was always so happy when someone appreciated his work.  Brian liked to make others happy.  Many people are so glad that they had the opportunity to know and love Brian.  His spirit lives on among us all and we are better for it.

 
Brian’s memorial service will be on Saturday December 30th 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting House in Philadelphia. The Meeting House street and Web addresses are below.  We have several speakers scheduled to memorialize Brian's life and then others are welcome to come up and speak.  After the services there will be appetizers and beverages in another room in the Meeting House.  We hope you can come and celebrate Brian's life on December 30th, 2017.
